I always enjoy shopping in JB. hahaha... Even for my bridal package, I had chosen a bridal studio from JB. Heard alot of good reviews about Venus Bridal, especially for their wide range of backdrops. On top of that, the price is quite reasonable too. Their style is quite similar to taiwanese style. I particular love one of its backdrop which is similar to the taiwanese drama" romantic princess".
On 23/5/2009, when I passed by Zon Mall, there was a bridal show. hahaha... Signing up the package on the spot entitles you to free hi tea buffet with Fann Wong & Christopher Lee. That's where I signed up immediately with them. Aiyah.. too bad, didn't do enough research before signing up.. Didn't managed to get much freebies.

Wedding band bought on 30/5/2009
Great Singapore Sale finally arrives in May. Purchasing a min of $1400 at compasspoint will entitle you to a free nautica watch.

How? how? how? still short of $111 to get the nautica watch. Hahaha.. Since we need to get some gold jewelleries for our wedding, we decided to buy one small item first from Poh Heng.. After a few rounds of selection, I decided to buy this 4.1 gram gold ring which is priced at $258. Didn't know that gold price is so expensive nowadays...
We finally managed to get our white coloured nautica watch. Too bad, at the time of this article, this white watch has turned "Black" after 2 weeks of wearing it. Hence, no photos will be published here. hahahaa...
On 30/5/2009 before the adidas sundown marathon, we shopped around for our wedding band, hoping to get the nautica watch..We visited Citigem, Gold heart, Poh Heng and Lee Hwa. The princess cut diamond wedding band caught our attention immediately when we went to Lee Hwa Jewellery. We loved the design but the diamond seemed abit too small. Hence, we decided to custom made our ring.. Even then, the maximum size of the diamond that can be placed on the female ring is 0.11 carat. The max for the guy is 0.16 carat. Understand from the sales rep that curently their factory do not have my 0.11 carat diamond and they have to place an advance order. It will take roughly 3 months to custom made the ring. Hopefully it will be in time for my wedding photoshoot in Oct 2009.
We paid $1299 in full for both rings after discount.

Sourcing for wedding banquet venue...Finally confirmed on 19.5.2009
Since March 09 onwards, we started to source around for a suitable wedding venue. The selection was really tedious. We have several criterias which we were looking at
- Pillarless ballroom
- Great food & ambience
- Reasonable price
- Big & Spacious bridal suite
- Most importantly, it must be centralised and convenient for our guests. Preferably in lively shopping districts and near to mrt.
With these criterias in mind, we started to look around and source for quotes.
By May, we had done a few rounds of elimination. Finally, we were left with 2 last hotels which we really like and we were rather undecisive.
1) Novotel Grand Phoenix Ballroom (Clark Quay)
Pros
- Big reception area. Once you stepped out of the lift, the whole floor seems to belong to you.
- Very grand ballroom. Pillarless and high ceiling. Can accomodate up to 60 tables.
- Although the bridal suite is a bit small, it is considered very comfortable and cosy.
Cons
- Quite strict with their perks. No free flow of beer and wine
- The review on food provided by their Dragon Pheonix Restaurant was not very good
- Don't really like their candle theme. Cannot have the screen on the stage.
2) Orchard Hotel Ballroom 3 (Orchard)
Pros
- Pillarless L shaped and high ceiling ballroom
- the rose theme is very sweet and cosy.
- Food is prepared by award winning chef in Hua Ting Restaurant
- Spacious bridal suite
- Free flow of beer and wine
Cons
- The ballroom can only accomodate up to 32 tables. Personally feel that the ballroom is very small, though cosy.
- Might have to share the reception area with a few couples if there are other wedding dinners on the same day.
On 19 May 2009, after some considerations, we decided to choose Orchard Hotel because we still prefer our favourite orchard shopping district . Paid a $5000 deposit.. Such a big expense...

Our future home...Compassvale Beacon
I got my ideal 4 room high storey flat during my first ballot. My queue no was 188. Such a lucky number.. The estimated completion date is by June 2011. Up till 15th June 2009, 7 levels had been built.. Hope to see the whole building complete by end of this year.

Compassvale Beacon is a development with 750 flats, comprising 60 units of 2-room, 150 units of 3-room and 540 units of 4-room Standard flats. Located at the junction of Sengkang East Avenue, Punggol Road and Compassvale Drive, it is well served by Buangkok MRT Station, Ranggung LRT Station and bus services, with easy access to Tampines Expressway (TPE). Residents can also enjoy the convenience of shopping at Compass Point and the Rivervale Plaza, where there is an array of food establishments and commercial facilities. The project is also located near educational institutions such as North Spring Primary, Sengkang Secondary and North Vista Secondary.

Our wedding day....Finally fixed on 23rd October 2010
After around 3 years of dating, we finally decided to tie the knot in year 2010. Guess we are really a super kiasu couple. Around Feb 09, we have already started to source for a suitable date and we chose 23.10.2010 (Saturday) in the end. Reason is very simple. It falls on a weekend and more people will be able to attend our church wedding. Furthermore, it is towards the end of the year and there will be alot of public holidays like Deepavali, hari raya haji etc. We can make full use of the public holidays to extend our honeymoon trip. Great planning right?? hahaha...
